Fourth of July Part 1

Forth of July week in the Pacific Northwest to celebrate our 1st anniversary and visit with Claire and Greg. Claire lives in Olympia, WA, not too far from Seattle. We flew into Seattle and stayed the night downtown. First stop, Safeco Field to watch a Mariners' game.

Claire's seats weren't too bad

The view from out seats and the weather were the only good things about this game. The Mariners are terrible.

This group isn't too shabby looking
After the game we headed downtown Seattle for some sightseeing. First stop, Pike Street Market. Unfortunately, the fish throwing shop, and many other businesses, were closed for the 4th.

The day was as clear as one could hope. It was hard to decide what photos to show.

Other than the Mariner's game, we had no set plans for the week. A last-minute cancellation at Joey's on Lake Union allowed us this premo spot to eat dinner, drink some drinks, and watch some fireworks.  Elisabeth's friend Molly and her boyfriend, Jesse joined us for the evening on the lake.

Day Two found us continuing on our Seattle sightseeing tour. First stop, the Space Needle.

Another clear day in Seattle. Who knew?

After the Needle, we headed down to the Pier for some lunch and a final stroll through the Market.

On the way back to Olympia, we stopped off in West Seattle to visit with Molly one last time. We headed over to Alki Beach for more amazing views and some brews. Rhyming is fun.

Finally made it back to Olympia. As it doesn't get dark until nearly 10pm, we didn't eat dinner until 10:30.

The 4th of July vacation started with a 4am alarm in a bed in Charleston, had us in Seattle for a Mariners' game, fireworks, and sightseeing and ended on an air mattress in Olympia, WA two days later. Pretty typical for us.

Part two coming soon.
